Joe Battle

Joe started his insurance career with a Lloyd’s syndicate in the mid 80’s. Since then Joe has worked predominantly as an underwriter in the marine and energy sectors in the Lloyd’s and London Company markets. Joe has been the Active Underwriter of a Lloyd’s syndicate and the CEO of a Lloyd’s Managing Agency.

Mark Stevens

Mark Stevens entered the marine insurance market in the early ’70s as a broker at Lloyd’s. Since then, he has held CEO and Head of Country titles during his career, published three books, and worked on both the broking and underwriting sides of the business.

Callum Clark

Callum started his career at Lloyds broker Tysers, where he specialised in marine.  Later he ran Chubb’s APAC marine hull portfolio, where he also had oversight of marine reinsurance and underwriting audit. More recently he worked at Aon Re London and was responsible for all Japanese Marine & Energy treaty and facultative reinsurance.

Simon Stonehouse

Simon is a well-known figure in the Marine market having been Underwriter of the BRIT Syndicate at Lloyd’s for many years, as well as Chairman of the Joint Hull Committee. Later, he moved to Singapore as an underwriter at Asia Capital Re, before moving into the consultancy business.

Graham Clark

Graham Clark started as a marine broker in the early ’70s at Lloyd’s. He then moved to Tokyo in the mid 1970s and has been based in Asia since. His forte lies in the reinsurance and alternative distribution areas.

Veronica Lien

Veronica Lien dove into her insurance career with a direct broker in the 1970s. Based in Kuala Lumpur, she has since made her name as a reinsurance broker placing both marine and non-marine contracts.

John, or “Woody” as he is often called, began his insurance career in the 60’s and has held several senior positions in the London market. He is based in the UK and has spent the majority of his working life handling marine business from many parts of Asia.

Clement is a Chartered Insurer and a very experienced marine Hull and Yacht underwriter charged with heading up the company’s North Asia operations and expanding its interests in that region.

Laurent Biehly

Laurent has been in the international insurance business for over 30 years of which 20 were in the Middle East. He has worked for some of the world’s leading insurers and reinsurers and is a highly experienced underwriter of marine hull and liability insurance focusing on Europe.

Wai See is an accountant by profession and has over 15 years of experience in general insurance industry. She is responsible for management and statutory reporting as well as managing accounting operations including accounts receivable and account payables of the company.

Jean Yap

Jean has extensive experience in financial reporting for more than 10 years in the insurance industry and currently assisting the Financial Controller in the day-to-day activities of the finance function.

Capt. Jon Elliott

Capt. Jon began his seafaring career in 1960. 11 Years in Taiwan running US Lines. Moved to Singapore 1980, joined Matthews Daniel in Singapore in 1989, becoming Far East Managing Director. Capt. Jon started his own company Elliott Associates Pte Ltd after retired,  the object of bringing an enhanced level of Loss Prevention to the Asian Marine industry.

Capt. Jon now is the Managing Director of Lighthouse, the Loss Prevention Division of Coastal Marine Asia Holdings Ltd, and provides technical guidance to underwriters, whilst arranging crew and management loss prevention training for Insured Owners.

Capt. Ramon Tuburan has thirty-seven (37) years experience in shipping career with seventeen (17) years expertise as Vice- President for fleet of seventeen (17) high speed vessels. Highly skilled at working with different types of vessels and command excellent Technical and Commercial capability. Competent in Domestic and Foreign client relation with multi-racial network all over the world. Conducted numerous surveys for clients both domestic and international.

Edwin is a highly experienced  Master Mariner whose career commenced in 1980 as a deck officer and now includes roles onshore of chartering manager, legal and claims manager, marine superintendent, as well as expert witness.

Vika is a Chartered Insurer and started her insurance career as General Insurance underwriter and is now assisting Clement in North Asia operations and developing business in the region.

Habsah Binti Maasap

Habsah has more than 25 years of experience in the Malaysian marine market and joins Coastal Marine with great H&M and P&I retail broking experience. She is a part of Coastal Marine’s Underwriting Team in-charge of maintaining many of our existing broker relationships, as well as developing new business opportunities in the South East Asia region.

Pui Sun specialises in Hull and Protection and Indemnity (P&I) insurance and started her career in 2001. Her skills include risk analysis and underwriting support. Pui Sun is working with Coastal Marine’s Hong Kong team.

Chai started her insurance career in 1999 and is an experienced marine underwriter who has expanded her skills into planning, metrics, reporting and strategy and focuses on analysis of the company’s key data, ensuring that the company’s systems support its needs.

Irene Yam has 30+ years of experience managing the portfolio of Marine Hull, Cargo, Carrier Liability and Catastrophe claims. She possesses claims analytical skills allowing for accurate claims evaluations, interpretation of policy and identification of key factors impacting claims outcome.

Ashok Sharma

Ashok has many years of experience in the Malaysian insurance market. He held several senior posts including CEO, and is also a Lecturer for the Malaysian Insurance Institute (MII) on marine matters. He is supporting the Coastal Marine team regarding claim matters.

Erin was called to the High Court of Malaya in 2016 as a qualified lawyer and has been working in the Insurance industry for almost a decade. Her experience is a vital component in our claims management.
